Eligibility
1. Age Requirements: The competition is open to participants aged 9-15 years. The Junior category is for ages 9-12, and the Senior category is for ages 13-15.
2. Geographic Restrictions: Participants must be residents of Australia or New Zealand, unless otherwise specified.
3. Parental Consent: Entrants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate. By entering the competition, parents/guardians agree to these terms on behalf of their child.
4. Registration: All participants must register through the StarTime Live platform and create a profile. Only one entry per person per competition is allowed.
5. Ineligible Participants: Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of StarTime Live or its partners are not eligible to participate in the competition.
6. Compliance with Rules: All participants must comply with these Terms & Conditions. Failure to adhere to any rule may result in disqualification.
Entry Requirements
1. Registration: Participants must register on the StarTime Live platform and complete their profile to access competition resources and submit entries. It is free to enter StarTime Live Filmmaking competitions.
2. Submission Format: Entries must be submitted in digital video format (e.g., MP4, MOV) and should not exceed 3 minutes. Videos should be in good quality, with a resolution of at least 720p.
3. Original Content: All entries must be original works created by the participant. Submissions that contain copyrighted material or that have been previously submitted to other competitions will be disqualified.
4. Theme Adherence: Each entry must adhere to the theme of the respective competition. Entries that do not meet the theme requirements may not be considered.
5. Submission Deadline: All entries must be uploaded to the StarTime Live platform by 11:59 PM on the specified closing date. Late submissions will not be accepted.
6. Content Guidelines: Submissions must be appropriate for a general audience, including children. Entries containing inappropriate language, violence, or offensive content will be disqualified.
7. Technical Issues: StarTime Live is not responsible for any technical issues, including failed uploads or platform errors, that may prevent entries from being submitted on time. Participants are encouraged to submit their entries well before the deadline.
8. Confirmation: Participants will receive an email confirmation once their entry has been successfully submitted. If no confirmation is received, participants should contact support jo@startime.com.au before the deadline.
Deadlines
1. Registration Deadline: Participants must complete their registration and profile setup on the StarTime Live platform before submitting any entries. Registration remains open until the entry deadlines for each competition.
2. Entry Submission Deadlines:
– Halloween Film Competition: Entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Thursday, October 31st.
3. Time Zone: All deadlines are based on [Specify Time Zone, e.g., AEST]. Submissions received after the stated time will not be accepted, regardless of technical issues or other circumstances.
4. Finalist Announcement: Finalists will be notified via email and announced on the StarTime Live platform [5:30pm on 1st November].
5. Livestream Events:
– Halloween Film Competition Livestream: The event will take place at 5:30 PM on Friday, October 31st.
6. Important Notes: Participants are encouraged to submit their entries early to avoid any last-minute technical issues. StarTime Live reserves the right to modify deadlines in the event of unforeseen circumstances, with notice provided to all registered participants.
Judging Criteria
1. Creativity and Originality:
Judges will evaluate how creatively the theme of the competition is interpreted and executed. Unique and original approaches to storytelling, style, and visual presentation will be highly valued.
2. Adherence to Theme:
Entries must clearly reflect the competition’s theme. For the Halloween Film Competition, entries should capture the essence of spooky, scary, or Halloween-themed storytelling, whether through a scary movie trailer or a short horror film.
3. Technical Quality:
While entries do not need to be professionally produced, judges will consider technical aspects such as video quality, sound clarity, and overall production value. Effort in editing and presentation will also be taken into account.
4. Performance and Engagement:
Judges will assess the performance aspect, including the effectiveness of acting, timing, and the ability to engage the audience. Entries that evoke strong emotions, whether laughter or amazement, will be rated highly.
5. Storytelling and Structure:
The ability to tell a compelling story within the short film format will be a key judging factor. Judges will look for clear narrative flow, engaging characters, and the effective use of film language to convey the story.
6. Overall Impact:
Judges will consider the overall impact of the film, including its ability to entertain, impress, or inspire the audience. Entries that leave a lasting impression on viewers will score higher.
7. Scoring System:
Each criterion will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10, with a maximum total score of 60 points. The highest-scoring entries in each category will be selected as finalists.
8. Judging Panel:
A panel of industry professionals and StarTime Live representatives will judge the entries. All decisions made by the judging panel are final and not subject to appeal.
9. Tie-breaking:
In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score in the Creativity and Originality category will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the judging panel will deliberate to determine the final winner.
10. Announcement of Winners:
Winners will be announced during the respective livestream events on October 31st for the Halloween Filmmaking Competition. All finalists will be notified in advance and invited to participate in the livestream event.
Prizes
1. Junior Category (Ages 9-12):
– First Prize: $150 cash
– Runner-up: $75 cash
2. Senior Category (Ages 13-15):
– First Prize: $150 cash
– Runner-up: $75 cash
3. Prize Distribution:
All prizes will be awarded via electronic funds transfer or another mutually agreed-upon method within 30 days of the announcement.
Winners will be required to provide necessary details (such as bank information or parental/guardian consent) for prize delivery.
4. Non-Transferable:
Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for alternative prizes or cash equivalents beyond what is stated.
5. Claiming Prizes:
Winners will be contacted via the email address provided during registration. If a winner cannot be reached or fails to respond within 14 days, the prize may be forfeited, and an alternate winner may be selected.
6. Publicity:
By accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their name, image, and entry for promotional purposes related to StarTime Live’s competitions without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.
7. Tax Obligations:
Winners are responsible for any tax implications that may arise from accepting a prize. StarTime Live will not be responsible for any tax liabilities associated with the prizes.
8. Right to Modify:
StarTime Live reserves the right to modify the prize structure at any time due to unforeseen circumstances, with prior notice provided to all participants.
9. Special Recognition:
Additional special recognition may be awarded for creativity, innovation, or exceptional use of theme, at the discretion of the judging panel.
Intellectual Property
1. Ownership of Entries:
Participants retain full ownership of the intellectual property rights to their submitted films. StarTime Live does not claim ownership over your work but requires certain usage rights to facilitate the competition.
2. License to Use:
By entering the competition, participants grant StarTime Live a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and perform the submitted films in connection with the promotion, marketing, and showcasing of the competition, StarTime Live, and related educational content.
3. Permissions and Consents:
Participants must ensure that all content in their films, including music, images, and performances, is original or properly licensed. Participants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions, rights, and consents from third parties involved in their film (e.g., actors, musicians) before submission.
4. Moral Rights:
StarTime Live will make reasonable efforts to credit participants when their work is used. However, participants agree that StarTime Live is not obligated to credit the creator in every instance.
5. Use of Names and Likenesses:
By submitting an entry, participants consent to the use of their name, image, and likeness, as well as those of any featured individuals, in promotional materials related to the competition, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.
6. Content Restrictions:
Entries must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. Submissions that are found to violate copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights will be disqualified and removed from the competition.
7. Modification Rights:
StarTime Live reserves the right to modify, edit, or adapt submitted films for promotional purposes, including but not limited to cropping, resizing, or minor adjustments for formatting consistency, without altering the integrity of the original work.
8. Disqualification for Infringement:
Any participant found to have submitted work that infringes upon the rights of another will be disqualified from the competition. StarTime Live reserves the right to pursue any additional actions if infringement is discovered.
9. Withdrawal of License:
Participants may withdraw the granted license by notifying StarTime Live in writing. However, this withdrawal does not apply to uses already made or authorized prior to the notice of withdrawal.
Liability and Indemnity
1. Limitation of Liability:
StarTime Live, its affiliates, employees, and agents will not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the competition, including but not limited to technical failures, loss or corruption of data, unauthorized access, or other errors beyond the control of StarTime Live.
2. No Warranties:
StarTime Live makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the operation or functionality of the competition platform, the quality of the submissions, or the ability to complete the competition as planned.
3. Indemnification:
By entering the competition, participants agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StarTime Live, its affiliates, employees, agents, and partners from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs) arising out of or in any way connected with the participant’s entry, participation in the competition, breach of these terms, or violation of any rights of another.
4. Assumption of Risk:
Participants acknowledge that they voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in the competition, including but not limited to the use of third-party software or equipment, and any personal injury, property damage, or loss incurred as a result of participating.
5. Disqualification and Legal Recourse:
StarTime Live reserves the right to disqualify any participant found to be in breach of the terms and conditions, or engaging in any misconduct, cheating, or manipulation of the competition process. In such cases, participants may be liable for damages or legal action.
6. Force Majeure:
StarTime Live shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations under these terms if such failure is caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, civil unrest, strikes, or technical failures.
7. No Endorsement:
Participation in the competition does not imply any endorsement by StarTime Live of the participant’s work or vice versa. StarTime Live is not liable for the content of entries or any actions taken by participants based on competition outcomes.
8. Governing Law:
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [your jurisdiction]. Any disputes arising from the competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [your jurisdiction].
Disqualification
1. Non-Compliance with Rules:
Participants must adhere to all rules and requirements outlined in the terms and conditions. Failure to comply with any rule, including entry requirements, submission deadlines, and content guidelines, may result in disqualification from the competition.
2. Inappropriate Content:
Submissions that contain inappropriate, offensive, defamatory, or illegal content, including but not limited to language, imagery, or actions, will be disqualified. All content must be suitable for a general audience, including children.
3. Violation of Intellectual Property Rights:
Any entry that infringes upon the intellectual property rights of another, including unauthorized use of music, images, or content, will be disqualified. Participants must ensure that all elements of their submission are original or properly licensed.
4. Cheating or Misconduct:
Any form of cheating, manipulation, or fraudulent behavior, such as using bots to generate votes (if applicable), falsifying information, or attempting to disrupt the competition process, will result in immediate disqualification.
5. Multiple Submissions:
Only one entry per participant per competition is allowed. Submitting multiple entries under different names or accounts may result in disqualification of all entries associated with the participant.
6. Misrepresentation:
Providing false information during registration or about the ownership of the submitted content will lead to disqualification. All participants must provide accurate details when entering the competition.
7. Failure to Provide Parental Consent:
For participants under 18 years of age, failure to provide valid parental or guardian consent will result in disqualification. Consent forms must be completed as part of the registration process.
8. Technical or Submission Errors:
Entries that are incomplete, corrupted, or not accessible due to technical issues may be disqualified. Participants are encouraged to verify their submissions are complete and properly uploaded before the deadline.
9. Right to Disqualify:
StarTime Live reserves the right to disqualify any participant at its discretion if it is deemed that the participant’s behavior or submission does not align with the spirit of the competition.
10. Notification of Disqualification:
Participants who are disqualified will be notified via the contact information provided during registration. Disqualified participants will not be eligible for any prizes or further participation in the competition.
Privacy and Data Protection

StarTime Live collects personal information from participants and their guardians, including names, contact details, and submitted content, solely for the purpose of administering the competition and communicating with participants.

Personal information will be used to manage competition entries, verify eligibility, contact winners, and distribute prizes. 4. Consent:
By entering the competition, participants and their guardians consent to the collection and use of their personal information as described in these terms. Guardians of participants under 18 years old must provide consent for the collection and use of their child’s data.
5. Third-Party Services:
StarTime Live may use third-party services (e.g., platform hosts, email services) to assist in the administration of the competition. These third parties are bound by confidentiality obligations and are prohibited from using personal data for any purpose other than providing services to StarTime Live.

Communication

2. Confirmation and Updates:
Participants will receive a confirmation email upon successful registration and submission of their entries. Further updates, including reminders, finalist announcements, and livestream event details, will be communicated via email.

4. Livestream Notifications:

StarTime Live may request feedback from participants and their guardians to improve future competitions. Participation in surveys or feedback requests is voluntary and will not affect eligibility or chances of winning.
6. Communication Etiquette:
Participants and their guardians are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally with StarTime Live staff and other participants. Inappropriate or abusive communication may result in disqualification.
7. Notification of Winners:

Modifications and Cancellations
1. Right to Modify:
StarTime Live reserves the right to modify the competition rules, guidelines, dates, or any aspect of the competition as necessary. Participants will be notified of any significant changes through the email provided during registration or via updates on the StarTime Live platform.
2. Changes to Deadlines:
If it becomes necessary to extend or change submission deadlines due to unforeseen circumstances, participants will be informed promptly. Updated deadlines will be communicated via email and posted on the competition’s main page on the StarTime Live platform.
3. Event Adjustments:
StarTime Live may alter the format, timing, or structure of livestream events due to technical issues or other factors beyond our control. Participants will receive advance notice of any such adjustments, and efforts will be made to ensure minimal disruption to the competition.
4. Cancellation of Competition:
In the unlikely event that the competition needs to be cancelled, StarTime Live will notify all participants as soon as possible. Registration fees will be refunded in accordance with applicable refund policies, except in cases where cancellation is due to participant misconduct or violation of terms.
5. Disqualification Due to Modifications:
If changes to the competition necessitate the disqualification of an entry (e.g., changes in eligibility or submission requirements), affected participants will be notified and, where possible, offered the opportunity to amend their entries to meet the revised criteria.
6. Force Majeure:
StarTime Live will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations if such failure or delay is caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, technical failures, or government actions. In such cases, the competition may be modified, postponed, or cancelled.
7. Participant Withdrawal:
If a participant wishes to withdraw from the competition due to modifications, they must notify StarTime Live in writing. Refunds of entry fees will be handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on the timing and nature of the withdrawal.
8. Updates and Transparency:
StarTime Live is committed to transparency and will provide clear and timely updates about any modifications or cancellations. All changes will be documented and accessible to participants through the StarTime Live platform.
9. No Liability for Costs Incurred:
StarTime Live is not responsible for any costs incurred by participants as a result of modifications or cancellations, including but not limited to production costs, travel expenses, or other personal expenses related to the competition.
10. Final Decision:
All decisions regarding modifications or cancellations made by StarTime Live are final and binding. Participants agree to abide by these decisions as part of their participation in the competition.
Acceptance of Terms

By registering for and participating in the StarTime Live film competition, participants and their guardians (if applicable) agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Participation in the competition constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these terms.

Participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by all rules, regulations, and requirements outlined in these Terms & Conditions. Guardians of participants under 18 years of age agree to these terms on behalf of the participant.

Participants will be notified of any significant changes via the email address provided during registration or through announcements on the StarTime Live platform. Continued participation in the competition following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
4. Disqualification for Non-Acceptance:
Failure to accept these Terms & Conditions or any modifications thereto may result in disqualification from the competition. Participants who do not agree to the terms must withdraw from the competition.
5. Acknowledgment of Policies:
Participants and their guardians acknowledge that they have reviewed StarTime Live’s policies, including those related to privacy, intellectual property, and liability, as part of these Terms & Conditions.
6. Legal Capacity:
Participants affirm that they have the legal capacity to accept these Terms & Conditions. Guardians must have the authority to accept these terms on behalf of participants under 18 years old.
7. Agreement to Communications:
By accepting these Terms & Conditions, participants consent to receive communications from StarTime Live related to the competition, including updates, announcements, and promotional materials, as outlined in the Communication section.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction:
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising from or related to the competition shall be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Australia.
